Highlighted Art (or lack of same)

OK....everyone has their own tastes...and,granted,when you are in a position to highlight what you like...fine....hard to argue with that...however,some of the pieces that have been highlighted are sh*t...sad but true. Why is one admin doing 90% of the selections?

I understand what you mean hellion. I do agree with you. I've seen work here that should have been highlighted but hasn't as well. Maybe you should pick a few examples and explain why they are bad. That way people can understand.
I don't see any purpose for "pointing out" reasons why something shouldn't or wasn't highlighted... I think that would actually be counterproductive.
Highlights are done on the whim... a personal preference done at a personal moment. there are many types of highlighted works (genres) done in any given week, and the varity does vary. the "critiquing part of the site's process should only be done by you... the viewer...
Highlights are nice but still, it shouldn't stop anyone from commenting on anything if they feel like it.
Pay less attention to the idea of being singled out and highlighted and more to the attention of ALL the art submitted here, comment on worthy/unworthy works and, dammit, use the power you have to FEATURE any piece you think is acceptional!!!

It would not be a prob for them to critique what they feel is sh** according to my taste... hehe =)
Though they stillll would never see or know or understand the why or what "I" seen in the work that caused me to highlight it.
when someone speaks out I feel they too should stick around long enough to read the responses back to them? Apparently he ran off, shows you just how much he really was concerned and cared right?

Again I just might agree w/ them pointing out some things that I should have highlighted over other pcs but did not since there is only (4) highlights right? you cannot highlight "Everything"
Example: If I seen alot of effort in a sketch that was "not completed" but there was alot of effort and attitude in the character they were sketching I would sometimes highlight that over a completed pc since I would try to get that other person to go further and complete what they themselves thought was not good enough to finish (according to their notes I would sometimes read)
So I'm pretty sure sometimes I could hear ppl say why did she highlight that incomplete raw and uncolored sketch for?

Come to think of it I think I heard alot of your nasty remarks... hehe
But again would I do it differently? nope cuz the highlights picked by the admin is according to their taste what they see and what they want to pick, not according to your taste so take Master's advice and go pick according to your taste on the "Feature" highlight, such a shame most don't either see it or pass that up and that is confusing to me.

Dude! If anime stuff gets its own space, pleaaaase let me know!! ^^ But in the mean time, what exactly is it when art is featured? Is art RANDOMLY featured via a computer program, or do people actually pick?
My picture 'Aftermath' was featured, see, and I was all happy like YAY ^^. But then I realized, that I really don't know what it means to be featured on this site. o.o Do you know?

A Featured Artwork is simply a piece of art by an AU member that another AU member has viewed and thinks is worthy of some recognition. You for example my see an artwork you like and would want to feature.
Located beneath the thumbnail of the image you view is the following list:
To feature the artwork you will need to click on the word "Vote". Remember to write a comment about why you like the piece or feel it should be featured. That's it.

Featured artwork is as liquidd described above... your piece however, was Highlighted. Highlights are chosen by AU admins.
