Hmm.... I patched my XP with the Service Pack 2 and since then the computer isn't able to reboot. Just black screen and nothing happens  . Any advice what I could do? Or a way to restore the old system?

I'm hoping you made a backup before a major OS update. If you did not get your XP disk out and run the repair to get it back ...

You say when you turn your pc on you get a black screen? Try using a Windows XP cd to boot the system. Maybe yo have to change some settings in your bios so thge cd-rom drive is checked as the first booting device.
When you have booted from your CD you can transfer your data to another harddisk when possible.

Well the backup was made automatically by XP before I updated it. Can I load this old state from the boot disk ?

mm think so. Hard to say. At the moment I get such problems I just format my C after I placed my files at some other hard-disks. I should say give it a try. If it doesn't works come back and maybe I have some other solutions.

usually the repair would fix that problem bro... do you kow how to run the re-pair?
if not there are numerous sites that will walk you through it... or i could just tell you here lol
