I am gonna bring up a topic which will probably end in a heavy discussion. But sometimes that's needed I think.
The topic is moderation. Moderating, it still happened when LOS was on. Some of the old 'crew members' wanted it back and it was launched a little with the new LOS. But now the leading question. Will we launch it here? AU at the moment is undermoderated. And in my view there still comes work online here that shouldn't be here. With moderation we should throw a part of the work out and I then especially aim at the wallpapers and indy-art works.
Of course there are positive points when we do this. Less works online means more viewing time which means that the creator gets more attention from other users.
So what are your thoughts? To moderate or not?

How old is AU again...? It hasn't been much of a problem yet, in my opinion.

I think that if it may develop into a problem in the future, fix it, but not at the expense of more urgent needs

The problem I have is the moderatore/censors I've seen are not qualified for the job.
One must have a vast amount of expertise in the art medium to pass judgement.
I have seen comments where the commentor missed the entire point of what the artist was trying to express. I would hate to see someone like this in a position of moderation. Then there are built in biases... I don't think I want to go there.

Actually, I am quite surprised at the lack of "mature" art in this community.
I read the ToS and I found no restrictions regrading how erotic a picture can be. I personally dabble in the erotic/yaoi genre but I am timid to uplad much art due to the fact there is a total lack there of.
Should I be felling this way? How tolerent is this community regarding artwork of the homoerotic nature?

Not to sound sarcastic or anything but what is your definition of porn?
Penetration? Actual photos? I draw hentai and try my best to keep it "tasteful". Then again, it's all relative. I just don't want to piss anyone off.

im not mad I dont get mad at stupid shit like this I could really care less im just trying to prove a point, when youve pissed me off trust me youll know, I swear like a sailor even if I was in a church. Past all that, I thought that being gay one had to assume a level of not caring what other people think just to function, one should also take that on them self when making art.

I'm not gay. I am a somewhat het female. So because I am a woman, that may explain why I am being so coy. Then again, I know many that are direct and commanding.
I make homoerotic art as part of my mission that women and gay men have equal right to enjoy erotic material as do the prodomient consumers (het males).

This is a free site..with the most options available to free users I have ever seen. Admins volunteer their time and effort here and Chaz only asks for donations. To make this site moderated- i think will be a slow death for AU...
We rely on our traffic for our success of being a good site- and if we start playing judge and jury on artwork, we may be shooting ourselves in the foot and ppl won't be as happy to come here anymore because they might feel that their artistic ideas are being stifled by someone's idea of what art should or should not be.
This is such a cool site... and it is moderated - just not in a nazi fashion.
Epilogue.net wouldn't allow three of my paintings to get in...but allowed one - and it was one of the same ones that was actually one of the three that was denied. One of them said that it was not 'good enough' and then later accepted it. I have boycotted them ever since...
