Artist's Comment:
A semi final render of my mech. It seems nothing is ever really finished and there are plenty of changes I could make to this to last me weeks. Good test for "breaking in brazil" though. Hope you all like it!

nice work! hmm, maybe do a bit more with the barrel of the gun. it seems a little too plain. maybe something around the tip of it would look good.

3d studio max 3 +brazil 0.2.26 + HDRI mapping.

This render took 3 1/2 hours on a low level workstation PC. It still needs alot of texturing work, and you're right about the barrel... it does need a little something extra. I ran out of time on this one... too many other things to do!

HDR (High Dynamic Range) stores alot of luminence data and when used as environment maps, or brazil skylights it makes the lighting more realistic (greater contrast etc etc). It takes a little longer to render, but the outcome is worth the wait.

This is a great piece...it reminds me of Fuchicomas in the Ghost in the Shell Graphic Novel. Killer render Ironik :-)
