SORROW
See her standing on the corner
with a baby in her arms
Wondering how she’s gonna make it through the night
She has no one to hold her,
no kind words to uphold her
And give her hope that it will be alright
As she looks down at the infant
snuggled close against her breast
The streetlamp casts a frosty light
A tear falls from her eye
as she looks up to the sky
And wonders how they’ll make it through the night
There lying in an alley
huddled up against a wall
Seeking shelter from the winter’s icy air
His mind drifts through the pages
of his life’s heartbreaking stages
And views a future of despair
He tries not to think about
how he got so down and out
Left with no one who’d even care
So he huddles from the storm
with litter to keep him warm
As a tear drops through the icy air
