Absolutely gorgeous. The vibrancy of the colors reminds me of the Caribbean. The boats add for a nice effect, as do the people on the rock. Much more interesting than just an oil piece without any substance but water. The reflection is beautiful. Well done!

This is wonderful work. I love the individual strokes and colours; they blend well to make an overall colour, but add texture and character to a piece. This style reminds me strongly of Van Gough, especially in Notte Stellata in the way you have picked out odd tones and shades in the sky and used them to a more artistic end. The shimmer this technique lends the water is incredible, very real and yet very surreal.
The sun is a really nice touch, making it an imperfect white ball surrounded by the mustardy colour that is so often missed when painting such a scene. The subtle blending of colour in this really works well as it flows from light to dark and yet has stark contrast at the same time. There is a wonderful air of mystery brought about by this.
I also like the way the horizon doesn't simply blend into the sky, but seperate these two wonderfully seperate entities. Your use of light and shadow throughout this piece shines, but more importantly it frames the piece. The darker left hand side of the image gives it presence while the onlookers on the right really give it definition and anchor.
This seems to me to be the calm after the storm; it is too peaceful and relaxed for any other time. The dark sky and the bright, warming sun are obvious pointers to this opinion, however it was the figures that really strike me as being indicators. The image of wife and child coming to look for the small boats as they return, damaged but intact is one I can relate to. Wonderfully composed, open and interperatable, this work stand out as a true work of art. You should be proud to have this adorn your gallery. Thank you for sharing your work.
