well it looks like a verry good start...
maybee you could try to give the landschape behind the tree a wider view (I don't know)

I would redo the lense flare if at all possible (hopefully its still a separate layer) if not its not bad it just doesn’t look right. also I would forgo the two characters I really don’t think they will ad much but its hard to tell where you will go with them but their position now doesn’t go with the flow ... grass and the tree trunk look great. I also assume that the left lower sky will be a hill as well, pulls the composition together well... also would extend the lower branches... hard to tell though whats "done" and whats not. looks great though. Looking forward to seeing more.

I'd suggest you maybe change the flare lenght, looks a little too short...the tree is just perfect, and the clouds on the right are great (maybe the ones on the left should look similar?)... anyhow, great piece...looking forward for the full finish... (PS: Wish I could do something like this on Photoshop, too...)
