I need my Bryce back. I haven't done a terrain in a very very very long time. Longer than you probably! Heh, anyway, this is pretty good for being "rusty" with this kind of generation. The "zoomed" picture looks really really nice, especially the way you have the land set up. It actually looks as though it's possible, like the river actually eroded it down to where it is now, as if it were once I massive rock.
But as I said, it looks like a massive rock, not a part rock, part dirt, with snow on it. Which kind of makes the tree look a bit out of place because it doesn't seem likely that it's going to grow from solid rock. Maybe if you could photoshop it to look cracked so a plant could actually grow from it.
The plants on the right and left look alright, but you should maybe try to sparsely add some plants in the middle too, or at least a few plants that stray from the main group of the two on the left and right. It kind of makes it a bit more believeable that it's something that could be a photograph rather than a generation. Although, I think that the plants on the left and right look more as if they'd grow there because the ground looks like it has sand and grass/moss or something growing/sitting there, rather than it looking like rock. Although the same texture is used on the massive formation in the center of the picture, I've never seen sand that is that uniform without being all sloppy on a slope. It doesn't matter really, I'm being overly critical on a piece that you're just making up to probably re-enter you into your terragen picture making whatever. Good job despite my criticism! It'll be interesting to see more.
