This is a piece done of Richard Dahlin's G Gundam fanfiction character
, Yukio. Richard (Ricky) is the brother of my wonderful e-friend, Brianne Dahlin, and is currently handling business (serving our country). His sister decided to hold a contest featuring his character and will send them all to him upon contest's end.

sketch: derwent graphic pencils
color/effects: Corel Photopaint

credit: special thanks to Panatenshi [ link ] for translating chinese characters for Yukio's shirt design.

This is one Bad-Ass image! I have a question, does Yukio have an evil streak? His stance and expression suggest that to me; that or that he is an avenger!
Either way, this is great Emotion IconEmotion IconEmotion Icon (three happy smilies up)

(btw, the "In war it does not matter who's right. Only who's left" scares me with it's truth)

:-o ooooh sexy man alert! i really like this a lot, and not because he's good looking, but because of the composition. it's not that involved and with this piece that doesn't bother me. you always do a good job anyways, i think this is ranked among one of my favorites in your gallery. great job!! MasterCylinder - From what I read about Yukio's description, he doesn't have an evil streak. It's just that he is a somber guy who rarely smiles, but he was also described as having a fierce presence, so I'd say he is more of an avenging type.

As for the saying, yes, it does ring quite true. I saw it once on a bumper sticker and it just stayed with me.

Kazumi - Thanks, man!

Bellatrix - You know what? I had planned to make this high tech gundam mech lurking in the smoky bg, but I decided at the last minute to just keep it simple. Glad you liked it though. Emotion Icon

Calmius - Hey, I just drew him as described.

exotic - Thanks, Josh.

Azriel - Yeah, Brianne gave him this weird funky hairstyle, I just hope I stayed true to it enough. Thanks.

SteV - Wow! You speechless?!! Emotion Icon Thanks, man!

This is breath-taking. I've totally lost track of your art, but it seems to be taking off as always. This just adds to it too. The stance, the lighting, the background...EVERYTHING. It seems to all just fit and add to this grimacing look you have going here for him. It's everything I wish I could make and better...or at least when I was a kid. Great great GREAT job.

I hope everyone suffers because with suffering comes gratitude

Holy shit, dude. That is amazing. I love the flesh tones you used and that background just kix ass. The sword, without a doubt, is my fav part of the piece.

In war it does not mtter who's right. Only who's left. - This is a great quote and one which fits this image perfectly.

This is a wonderful image, it really stands out at you; feeling dark but not evil, a wonderful touch for such a character from what little I know about him. I love the bacground, and the way its foggy/misty effect is so dirty and light plays in amongst it. I also like the way you have lifted this effect across the bottom of the image, this prevents the flat look that so many artists get; like they have simply stuck the character over the top with Prit-Sticktm.

I love the whole image, the work is so intricate and detailed. Even the areas that are "fogged over" are very detailed and this shows through. The sword looks sharp and strong, as do his arms. I love the way you have contoured the tatoo to his bicep so well, it's flawless. Wonderfully coloured you have used the light and shade to your advantage throughout the piece, even in the background above his head, as this is an almost halo like light for the hero. This is a great contrast to the scar and the white eye, it works really well.

I also like the hair and the proportions are perfect. The composition is great, it really shows him as an anchor character having him off centered and the coat flowing so well off the page is somehow more artistic.

Now the part I hate; critique. I think his left hand could do with a little more work to make his wrist look less bent, however this could well be an optical illusion that I have developed from 26 hours of Art Surfing. I also think a little more shadow on the chest would really help fill out that T-shirt and match his strong arms a little better. I do like the inclusion of the lettering though and this could make it hard.

To be honest I wouldn't change this now; unless you sit here and analyse it as I have I don't think you would see it. You have done a fantatsic job and deserve a little credit for it. You should be proud to say this piece is in your gallery, good job!
