Artist's Comment: Okay, first off, the file size is rediculously small, but as soon as I get back to my regular computer, I'll load up the larger file for better viewing.
Now to the piece.
This was done from a still life in my Drawing I class at the art school I go to in roughly 8 hours, or three classtimes. I still had 2 weeks to go when I finished! There will be another soon, called Charcoal Study 2.. because my professor is making me do another from a still life from the next level drawing class to challenge myself. Anyway, I haven't had my hand at charcoal in over a year and a half, so I think I picked it up pretty fast.
Enjoy and comments are appreciated.

Absolutely Excellent! concidering the difficuly i had with charcoal in my art classes this came out superb! more of a surrealist piece than a still life though (think Magritte). I can't wait until the next piece

Yeah, I agree that the file size is kind of small, but at least you are going to upload a better view later. I haven't worked in many traditional mediums since I purchased my airbrush (17 years ago) and my computer (8 years ago). I used to love working in charcoal. It's a very forgiving medium and I think you handled it pretty nicely here. Excellent tonal range.
