Artist's Comment: "...la furia y el fuego del volcán rabian en belleza luminosa... llueve una ducha de la luz sobre toda la tierra... lluvia sobre mí siempre..."
So, like, I went to Las Vegas and saw KÀ. It's a Cirque du Soleil thing, right? And it was all, like, based on Chinese mythology and and martial arts and sword fighting and stuff. And it was, like, totally wicked cool. And the Fire Kingdom dude's reminded me of Zuko. (OMG the Air Prince looked like a young Sokka. o.o). So after KÀ, I went to the store in hopes of finding the soundtrack. I didn't... ;_; BUT! I found the Varekai soundtrack! =3 Which I've been listening to all day.
So I was listening to this, was sick of drawing art for other people, and starting drawing the vision I had seen after watching KÀ: Zuko wearing a beautiful Cirque-inspired mask, clothes like that of the KÀ performers (adjusted, of course, since the Fire tribe people were only wearing loinclothes), and makeup as fantastical as every Cirque du Soleil I've ever seen (on TV). Now, I know, most people would have put him into the Phantom's mask (I even thought of doing that, and putting Sokka as Raoul and Aang as Christine), but I then thought that I'd go more elaborate. And elaborate did I go...
Anyway, highly inspired by both KÀ and Varekai. (Makeup and mask - Varekai; outfit and hair-piece - KÀ) This thing took approximately 6 hours from start to finish. Done entirely in openCanvas3.02E Plus like usual. Wallpaper available here and line art (for those who wanna try their hands at it) is here. Any questions about the image may be directed to the comments, notes, or whatever other means.

OH! And that stuff in Spanish translates to:
"...the fury and fire of the volcano rage in luminous beauty... it rains a shower of light on all the earth... rain on me always..."
...Or it should translate to that... My Spanish skills are slowly dwindling... ^^;
