I think the reason everyone thinks it's a female is because of all the classic female traits HIM has. The eyeliner accentuates his almold shaped eyes, his eyebrows are slightly arched, those lips are DEFINITELY feminine! His hair is short and swept back (just like the butch lesbians do it) and at first glance his tye appears to be a scarf draped around his neck.
HIM is either a british rocker (apologies to the Brits here), a flaming homosexual, or a wannabe drag queen. Either way he's feminine, sweetheart. But you've done a nice job of portraying him here, confusion and controversy are good for a band's image.

ROFL @ liquidd's comment - spot on about the Brit rock thing. HIM reminds me of a more feminine version of Brett from British band Suede (you are all probably thinking "who").
I like this picture all the same - there are plenty of famous guys who have these exact features.
