Artist's Comment: There is an 'awkwardness' at the beginning of some relationships: she knows, she wants; you know, you want .... but someone has to make the first move. It may as well be you ...
NEARLY
We don't touch, though
there is no gulf between us
merely a memory of distances past:
It is surely not beyond our wit or craft
to heave a lifeline
shrink the space
and bridge this o-so-barren gap.
There is simply no delusion
in this wary intermesh of glances
merely a tacit denial of propinquity
Now is this careful prudence
or just a failure to admit
the proximity of it all?
Or just another self-set trap
another question begging answers
So, my nearly love, if you can't, I will
We are near, and getting nearer.

I like the visualizations that you present with this poem. This really gives that feeling of how it is right before one person decides to make a move to be "nearer".

Relevant to a lot of people I think.
My fav words from this are "bridge this o-so-barren gap" - I think these are perfect words to describe the potential the relationship has, with the distance still to "bridge"
"o-so-barren" gives a spot on sense of the hurt and real longing & desperation to fill the void. I can really understand how unfulfilling the current situation is.

Brings back memories of when I first started falling for my wife!
Love is a grand undertaking and you've captured the essence of it at it's beginings.Bravo and encore.
