Behold I have completed it! The first Creation Warrior Production! After 3 months I can finally show off my short film "The Fox and the Mirrior."
I did it because I am currently attending CalArts and every year we are expected to make a short film. I Have to say the people in the department are the most hard working insane awesome people before. I am just one of the individuals who accomplish this great feet every year. It's Awesome! Only now can I appreciate the amount of work that goes into hand drawn animation. So much work for such a short thing. But it means so much! Now I feel like I can accomplish anything!

Now on to the next film…. =)
+ Stats +
Title: The Fox and the Mirrior
Length: 1:48 sec (25 shots)
File Type: currently crappy 3 meg swf (looping)
Created with: Pencils lots of pencils, Mostly with my trusty mechanical pencil with .5 HB high-polymer lead(man it killed my hand) but also a lot with Crete-color Monolith and Tombo HB drafting pencils. All on "12 field" animation paper, (about 14" by 12") I tested the animation on a "lunch box system." I then scanned it in using Animation Stand and put the drawings in order in After Effects then Edited all the shots (27 of them) together with Final Cut Pro. The only place Flash had was in out putting it for the web. Other than that nothing was done in that program. All Drawn! Crap!
Death Toll: Some 1600 drawings over three months, average of 3 to 12 hours strait work a day (yes this is true!) and many, many sleepless nights. This isn't all just drawing I also had to plan it out x-sheet it, scan it, compose it and output it. Well for every second there needs to be 24 frames I drew about 24 -12 frames for every second...yeah just do the math.
+ FAQ +
Have you done other animations?
No. This is my first.
Where did you get the Music?
I go the music from one of my friends who had it around I heard it and I just had to use it. It was calling to me. ;P And I now know it was made by Dead Poetic and the song is called "A hoax to live For." There you have it.
Gender?
The fox is actually female. I wanted it to kind of come across without being weird. But really she is just a fox. =)
Were you Helped?
No. I did it all on my own
Don't understand it.
Yeah I ran out of time and was unable to complete like 5 shots.. Perhaps that would have made it a bit clearer. But also it's kind of a take it or leave it piece. It's abstract in a sense and I really think you can only understand it if you've "been there."
Meaning?
It's more of just a piece that expresses in an abstract way my emotions. The butterfly is supposed to be kind of the dream, what the fox wants...It's supposed to represent desire. The Mirrior (Yes Mirrior) is just supposed to show our worse enemy, ourselves. The fox is me because I am well a fox ;P .
How long have you been animating?
I've been at Cal Arts 1 year and this is my first animation.
You spelt Mirror wrong.
Yeah long story. I know it is not the common spelling. Mirrior/Mirror; Color/Colour. I came across that spelling in an old fairly tale once. It stuck in my head. And well Mirror is Mirrior now. And you pronounce it different. "ior". It's my own little kick but I'm glad we are all learned in English.
Why is it so sketchy?
Well I liked it that way and as far as the construction lines go I ran out of time.
Will you clean it up and color it?
No. What is done is done. My next film is going to be more clean but I have not time to go back and fix this one. And really it was painful to make this film. I do not want to go back.
Are You selling Copies?
Yes. In September 2005 I will open that up. DVD or VHS. The price will be no more than $10 for both the DVD and shipping and handleing. It will also be high quality resolution and a few special features.
I really Liked it...
Thank You for the Kind Complements!

Nice message, music fits nicely. I love the flying motion of the butterfly.
I'm glad you feel a sense of achievement through completing this, your commentary is good and you have identified the pain points of your animation.
I admire the hard work you have done to create this. Obviously you were working to a deadline here and are probably over the moon to stop working on it just now, but don't 100% rule out revisiting this piece in the future. You are over the mammoth task, and have already identified the areas you can improve.

lornaclare shut up, i can't possibly see how this one doesn't get a 5 star rating, this work should be highlighted, featured and maybe we should come up with a new award just for this one

woah - that's a bit harsh, didn't mean to offend anyone, just offering my feedback. I do think piece is wonderful, but 4-stars will hopefully spur razi on to do different things with this in the future, as she is aware of the current flaws.
Of course, that is only my opinion, but I shouldn't be slated for giving it...

This looks really awesome! I won't see me doing something like this! I'm hoping to see some more animations of you ^^

I am Very Flattered That it was featured. A bit shocked actually. Thank you for the Honor. *Smiles*
And really I find no offense at 4 stars. This was just my first and I plan to learn and move forward.
Thank You All

I thought I had commented on this once before, but apparently not. I remember it though and glad I found it again. I know it takes ALOT of patience to do animation and I think you've done a wonderful job here. Stashing.
