This is quite interesting. I believe traditional art will always stay. It has to stay. In order for those taking art classes to understand what art is, they must know the ways of traditional art, therefore a style of traditional art will always be appreciated by every art student.
Quote: you can with one click of a mouse do what would take hours to do with a paint brush or pencil.
Not always true! Digital art can take just as long or even longer, especially on slow PCs (like mine!). |

Breathtaking image, great commentary. I feel the opposite will happen, art will evolve based on creative initiative. |

beautifull pencil!!! i don't think traditional will ever be obsolete. people will alaways be as stunned by an ecellent pencil piece as they are by an awesome digital one. |

I Love digital I try to combine the two as 'Liquidd' would say "digital is more forgiving" but I have to say freehand is so nice

It's amazing what vivisection as done for the animal kindom, just go into the woods, plug in and they are there ready to enslave, I prefer cats without any interference, but then I'm a bit old fashioned.

First of all, kick ass concept you came up with there. A traditionally drawn cyber cat to chase and keep up with a digital mouse, is that it? Clever. And nicely drawn I might add.
At any rate, you've touched upon the very reason I bought a computer and came online. I started my business doing alot of local freelance artwork for shop owners, schools, local businesses (in addition to doing portraits, murals, wall & glass painting, signwork, wearable art, airbrush, etc; for non-commercial clients ) in short I did (and still do) alot of traditional work.
One day (over 9 years ago) one of my best regular clients told me he was going to do business with some new company who could more effectively handle his "in home" (meaning on the business site) advertising. I tried negotiating and I was told " Well, they use computers to design these, so they can do it quicker and for less expense ". That was the first time I realized that the sweet nest egg I had from all of the businesses and word of mouth clients I had was in jeopardy. Six months later, I bought me a computer from CompUSA, installed what a few friends had told me was a decent graphics program called CorelDRAW 8 and vowed I would never feel that helpless again.
I still do traditional and I don't feel digital could ever replace the emotion, sweat, heart and soul, trial and error, and tactile sensations used in creating traditional art. But, on the other hand, digital will not be denied and can "simulate" many of the techniques used in traditional. Instead of one replacing the other, I think both need to be viewed for what they are.
They are tools and mediums and either in capable hands are a force unto themselves. But to answer your question, traditional is here to stay. The reason being that you cannot "delete" eons of handcrafted images from the hearts and minds of millions upon millions of artist and art appreciators. Digital is simply the latest art form as art is constantly evolving and we all search for new ways to be creative and innovative. So don't worry, but trust me you WILL have to adapt at least a little.

Stunning art from a beautiful girl.
the pool is deep, but not always obvious in your eyes. and you know the water is going to be cool and refreshing; but there is always hesitation before we submit. before we submerse ourselves in what we cannot avoid.
change is the flow, it is the net, love and everything else.
