check out some of the tutorials online, as well as look for scripts on the net. I've found a lot of really cool scripts that do wicked things. Apoph can be difficult to manipulate variation by variation. I render random batches and then look for flames I can work with. When I find something workable, I'll run a script or 2 to change it. Then, I export it to Paintshop or Photoshop to clean up the image and add more details or layers.

I would have added a bit of light behind the image to show off the design more. Then sharpend it a bit more.
