Uranium: it was done in Cinema 4D and Photoshop. The main red model took about 14 hours to render (and I have a powerful dual CPU PC so you can imagine how many polygons are in there). The background render took about 2 hours to complete. The little man's a poser model. It was composited in Photoshop, with a very slight blur added to the background render to give a depth of field look. If anyone would like to create this kind of thing I highly recommend Cinema 4D because it's definitely the easiest 3D app to get into, it runs well on fairly humble PCs and it has a great workflow feel to it.

This is something I could n't stop looking at, not only because of it's incredible detail but also due to it's frightening depiction of something so horrible and with enough detail you alomst try to peek in it!! LOL..makes anything that I've done look like they've been though it.
